SAILS- What we do

SAILS provides supported accommodation for young people who are considered care leavers and who are approaching adulthood and transitioning to live independently.

The aim of the service is to support young people to develop their independence in preparation for adult living while keeping them safe in a homely and nurturing environment.

Care Afloat Ltd is a well-established provider of Children's Homes, operating since 1991. Our primary focus has been on helping young people transition into suitable accommodation with the support of local authorities. However, we recognise the importance of maintaining positive relationships and empowering young people to have more control over their lives during this critical phase. Our supported accommodation falls under Category 1 of the Supported Accommodation Regulations 2023, designed to meet the individual needs of young people and their families.

Our objective is to provide ongoing support for young people already residing in Care Afloat homes, ensuring continuity of care and support from familiar staff. By focusing on personalized support and maintaining existing relationships, we aim to improve the lives of young people and empower them to lead successful and independent lives. The service offers stability and consistency, whilst enabling continuous access to local services including education and healthcare and focuses on facilitating the development of strong relationships within the local community.

We work jointly with our young people, all other professionals, agencies, and significant others when managing risks, concerns and needs of the young people.

The aim is to have a shared approach to the care of young people in their own home and ensure the sharing of information to inform safer and up to date planning.
