This short course introduces the concept of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), exploring how early life experiences can shape brain development, behaviour, health, and wellbeing across the lifespan. Participants will gain an understanding of what ACEs are, how trauma affects individuals and communities, and why a trauma‑informed approach is essential in professional practice.
The course will support learners to recognise the signs and impact of trauma, challenge common misconceptions, and develop greater empathy and awareness. By focusing on prevention, resilience, and protective factors, this course aims to empower participants to respond in ways that promote safety, trust, and positive outcomes for children, young people, and adults.
